The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Position Summary:

Serve as primary counselor and advocate for village-based community Health Aides/Practitioners (CHA/Ps) and working in coordination with Health Aide Support/ Critical Incident Stress Management Program Clinical Coordinator and the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) response teams.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in human services or related field. CISM certified trainer preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working with adults and children in a Behavioral Health (BH) setting crisis intervention experience preferred.
  • BH certification required.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge, and standard office equipment usage skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and ability to formulate and document its Five Axis diagnostic format
  • Ability to provide crisis BH assessment and referral information and support to adults in various states of emotional and mental turmoil.
  • Excellent human relations
  • Ability to direct and coordinate staff and staff training and development
  • Good verbal/written communications skills, word processing, spreadsheets
  • Ability to treat clients and co-workers courteously and fairly.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of crisis, mental illness and emotional distress on individuals and their families.
  • Respect for the well-being and safety of individuals with mental and emotional impairments.
