Senior Project and Billing Analyst, Europe

Location: London, UK

Description

The Brattle Group is looking for a Senior Project and Billing Analyst, Europe to join our London, UK office. This is a key role involving full ownership of all client invoicing and project billing support for the firm’s offices in London, Madrid, Rome and Brussels. 

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

  • Take ownership and manage all project billing activities for assigned caseload – analyze and reconcile monthly billing data for consistency and accuracy, review project budget limitations, prepare and distribute billing packets and proforma invoices to Project Managers within deadlines
  • Collaborate with administrative assistants to ensure accurate client invoicing in accordance with contract terms and PM needs
  • Review draft invoices with a keen eye for detail, ensuring that invoices comply with agreed client fee arrangements and VAT regulations
  • Process rate changes, move incorrectly posted timesheets and gather expense backup
  • Finalize invoices, including ensuring internal control compliance by obtaining correct approval for invoices, discounts and write-offs
  • Provide guidance and propose solutions to project setup or invoicing questions within the firm’s revenue recognition policy
  • Develop a deep understanding of our billing processes and implement complex billing arrangements
  • Verify the accuracy of project setup, including tasks, rates, tax, milestone billing, etc.
  • Verify budget amounts and update projects as new budget extensions are received
  • Proactively follow up on unbilled aging and update project notes
  • Proactively document project records regarding issues, rates, write offs, etc. as they occur

THE CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting or business
  • 7+ years of significant billing experience gained in a time and materials environment of a professional services industry
  • E-Billing knowledge and understanding of LEDES formats desired
  • Knowledge of international billing requirements and VAT regulations
  • Experience and proficiency in using structured accounting systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics SL
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Leadership qualities, including a strong sense of personal accountability
  • Ability to handle a high volume of tasks with strong attention to detail, taking the time to be accurate and correct the first time
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, anticipating problems and taking preventive actions
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, estimate time commitments and communicate when time constraints are anticipated
  • Demonstrates a clear commitment to the team approach, exchanging ideas and providing support to colleagues
  • Willingness to collaborate with other departments, including the legal and project teams, to improve productivity and achieve firm goals and objectives
  • Self-directed with a strong work ethic and the ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required
