Senior Project Biller - TOR

The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economics consulting firm, is looking for a Senior Project Biller to join our Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, San Francisco, CA, Toronto, ON or Washington, DC office. The Senior Project Biller is the main point of contact for project managers and administrative assistants for all revenue and invoicing inquiries and support.  This individual will also play a role in setting up new projects in the accounting database and all Brattle applications.  This position reports to the Senior Manager of Billing. 


Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:


  • Take ownership of all aspects of a project’s billing and provide accurate and timely invoices
  • Prepare, review and distribute monthly billing packets to project managers (PM) and administrative assistants (AA)
  • Gather related expense backup for invoices
  • Follow up on mailed invoice packets and ensure that all finalized invoices have been sent
  • Prepare adjusted, corrected, and/or rebilled invoices as necessary
  • Proactively maintain customer’s electronic invoicing websites, including adding new timekeepers and matters and submitting invoices
  • Research and resolve client billing problems or issues
  • Answer internal and external questions regarding invoices and address problems
  • Proactively follow up on unbilled aging and update project notes
  • Proactively document project records regarding issues, rates, write offs, etc. as they occur
  • Verify the accuracy of project setup, including tasks, rates, tax, milestone billing, etc.
  • Verify budget amounts and update projects as new extensions are received
  • Support ad hoc requests for project billing and revenue analysis




  • Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in accounting or business
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of billing or operations experience, preferably in professional services industry
  • Experience and proficiency in using structured accounting systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics SL
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle numerous projects and deliverables concurrently
  • Be proactive, anticipating problems and taking preventive actions
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve productivity and work cooperatively to achieve firm goals and objectives
  • Comfortable interacting with senior-level personnel
  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required
