Marketing and Business Development Specialist

We are looking for a Marketing and Business Development Specialist to join our Boston, MA or Washington, DC office. This position will develop and execute marketing activities that will improve the visibility of the firm’s Electricity practices (i.e., Electricity Litigation & Regulatory Disputes; Electricity Wholesale Markets & Planning; and Regulatory Economics, Finance & Rates) and related services and experts. Reporting to the Manager of Marketing & Business Development (BD), this individual will collaborate with Marketing department colleagues, consulting stakeholders, and the Corporate Operations team to drive practice-level marketing and business development strategies and related activities.

 

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

  • Serve as the go-to marketing liaison to members of the Electricity practices, acting as a strategic resource and thought partner, and ensuring flawless execution of related tactics

  • Work with consultants and other key stakeholders to establish annual marketing goals, priorities, and related tactics for the practices

  • Plan, focus, and execute marketing activities that improve the visibility of the Electricity practices’ services and experts and foster connections with current and potential clients

  • Oversee the development of marketing collateral such as whitepapers, client alerts, and brochures

  • Track key external developments and emerging trends through industry news and custom research platforms to help identify opportunities for new business and client outreach

  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry media contacts

  • Help to identify and qualify business opportunities through RFP procurement resources

  • Act as a driving force in developing digital initiatives to support the practices’ go-to-market strategies, including but not limited to video, infographics, and other interactive content

  • Help to identify and secure external conference speaking opportunities

  • Research, recommend, and facilitate memberships, sponsorships, and advertising opportunities with a strategic, long-term focus on building practice- and firm-level brand awareness

 

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, strong communicator who thrives in a role that allows him/her/them to identify, develop, and push key strategic initiatives forward. He/she/they must be adaptable and collegial, and someone who enjoys a fast-paced workplace and evolving industry. Other requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications preferred

  • 5 years’ marketing experience, preferably in economic consulting, the legal industry, or other professional services firms. Electricity/energy industry knowledge a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and interface with management-level staff

  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality on matters large and small

  • Ability to handle multiple and shifting tasks and demands

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team as needed

  • Takes pride in working within a high-quality, high-integrity organization

  • Overtime and occasional travel may be required
