Summary:  The Associate Human Resource Business Partner supports organizational objectives with employees and management within Heartland Alliance. This role serves as an associate consultant to management on Human Resource related issues. A successful AHRBP will act as employee champion and change agent. The AHRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions and formulates partnerships across the client group the employee supports to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the objectives of the organization.  Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below.

Essential Responsibilities:

Employee & Labor Relations

  • Consultation, facilitation and resolution strategies for ER matters
  • Strengthens the EE-ER relationship through measurement of job satisfaction; employee engagement and conflict resolution
  • Grievance Administration and management
  • Productivity, discipline and separation

Training & Development

  • Collaborate with L&D team on various training initiatives
  • Assess training and development needs for portfolio; recommend strategies for curriculum development, content design, and delivery 

HR Compliance

  • Ensure organizational programs are in compliance with labor and employment standards
  • Work with Compliance officer to report, investigate, and resolve compliance issues
  • Ensure working conditions are safe and mitigate risk

Other

  •     Build relationships with leaders and teams, and improve connections with employees.

  • Drive the annual performance management and compensation review cycle across areas of responsibility
  • Supports NBU salary determination process as needed
  • Implements and maintains improved onboarding support processes to improve new hire retention, especially newly hired and promoted managers and other key position
  • Partner with Recruitment team to provide proactive recruitment information and develop staffing forecasts
  • Keep current with HR trends.  Use comparable organization trends and HR analytics to anticipate and diagnose the impact of internal and external trends in order to make sound recommendations and informed business decisions
  • Interface with HR Specialists areas (i.e. recruiting, payroll, learning and development, HRIS, etc.) to ensure client resolution.
  • Collaborate and lead special projects within Human Resources as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  3-5 years of Generalist and/or Specialist HR experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and country employment laws and practices
  • Working knowledge of operating in a Union environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Provide proactive, customer-service and continuous improvement mindset with dedication to deliver on commitments
  • Excellent judgment and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently with a strong attention to detail
  • Must have thorough knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to build relationships and work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experienced in developing short-term and long-term goals
