Position:

This entry-level role will work closely with the Senior Finance Associate and Associate Director of Finance to focus on two key financial processes at Bridgespan.  First, the Finance Associate will oversee monthly time and expense reporting, based on online inputs provided by Bridgespan staff.  Second, this role will serve as the Accounts Payable function, processing all incoming invoices for the organization.  Additionally, the Finance Associate will assist in other tasks as needed, including the administrative maintenance of Travel & Expenses (T&E) within the CRM system, and responding to user inquiries.  This position would be a great opportunity for recent college graduates looking to learn more about finance and accounting in the nonprofit sector.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee the monthly time and expense cycle using CRM, ensuring timely submission and reimbursement, as well as reviewing reports for accuracy and adherence to policy limits
  • Train new Bridgespan employees on T&E within CRM, T&E policy, and submission procedures
  • Support the maintenance of T&E in CRM
  • Enter and maintain expenses in the Blackbaud accounting system
  • Compile reimbursed expenses for inclusion in Consulting client invoices
  • Manage the work of temporary staff in reviewing and filing expense report documentation
  • Oversee the accounts payable function, including establishing default values for new vendors, coding invoices, obtaining appropriate approvals, processing payments, and maintaining vendor files
  • Manage the corporate Amex account reconciliation process
  • Work with the Senior Finance Analyst and the Associate Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to ensure correct allocation of expenses and invoices to various departments and grants
  • Generate data and assemble reports on various aspects of Bridgespan’s revenues and expenses, working under the direction of senior Finance team members as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (business or accounting degree is highly desirable)
  • Interest in finance or accounting
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles is desirable
  • Strong Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables and drop down lists
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud or other accounting software is desirable
  • Comfortable with web-based systems
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a deadline-driven professional services environment
  • Commitment to the nonprofit sector
