The Human Resources Manager acts as lead HR representative for a specific subset of the Bridgespan employee population, “The Core Services Teams. “ The HR Manager reports to the Director of HR, and works in partnership with the Director to ensure all talent-related needs of the Core Services units are being met. The HR Manager will regularly interact with individuals across the firm, partnering with senior leaders of the Core Services teams, supporting employees at all levels, and collaborating with various HR and DEI team members on joint initiatives. The HR Manager acts as a true generalist, supporting the employee population and the firm with a variety of needs including but not limited to Performance Management, Employee Relations, Training & Onboarding, Compensation Management, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Responsibilities and Duties

Performance Reviews:

  • Run Bridgespan’s annual performance review and promotion cycle for Core Services staff from start to finish
  • Lead and participate in employee performance discussions, including performance check-ins on new employees and struggling employees; support managers as needed in addressing underperformance
  • Act as key contributor to Bridgespan’s review of its Talent Development System for Core Services staff, currently scheduled to take place in 2022


  • Lead annual compensation review & benchmarking exercise for all staff in Core Services
  • Contribute to strategic decisions related to Bridgespan’s compensation philosophy
  • Complete compensation benchmarking on an ad-hoc basis for new employees


  • With HR Director, address Employee Relations issues that arise for employees in Core Services
  • Handle all employee departures (exit logistics, exit interviews, separation paperwork, etc.)
  • Compile and share themes from Exit Interviews on an annual basis with key leadership staff
  • Support the professional development of staff, managing PD budget, creating training, tools, and resources related to PD, facilitating training on PD for new employees
  • Collaborate with Training team to offer regular training programs to staff in Core Services, contributing to a culture of learning and professional development.
  • Partner with Recruiting team as needed on searches for new Core Services team members
  • Partner with DEI team members to create and maintain an effective mentorship program for Core Services staff
  • Coordinate with Benefits Manager and other parties on employee leaves of absence
  • Design solutions to talent-related challenges, and implement new programs, policies, and initiatives for the organization on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis throughout the year
  • Support Bridgespan’s work to create an inclusive environment
  • Responsible for filing Bridgespan’s EEO-1 Report
  • May enter occasional changes in Ultipro (HRIS system)


  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of HR Generalist experience in progressively responsible roles; experience in professional services preferred
  • HR certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred
  • Experience in performance management required, playing a significant role in cyclical performance review processes
  • Comfort with and excitement for data analysis. Must be able to bring data to bear on decisions & recommendations.
  • Ability to “story-tell” and represent and communicate findings, ideas, and recommendations in visually appealing ways, including in PPT.
  • Proven experience managing projects from start to finish, including creating and communicating new initiatives/policies, and supporting the associated change management process
  • Must be able to work both independently, as an integral member of various teams, and as a project manager
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and appropriately prioritize tasks as necessary
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence, and generate high-quality output consistently
  • A high degree of professionalism, tact, and confidentiality required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and continuous improvement environment
  • Commitment to strong performance, high standard of accountability, and openness to feedback
