Lead Software Engineer

Why This is an Exciting Role:

The Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SI&WS) Division's GSCCE program is seeking motivated, goal-achieving, and team-oriented systems engineers to update, upgrade, and develop an updated and modernized global military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) ground system that will manage the WGS Payloads for all F1-F12 Boeing-built Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites.

As a Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) member of the GSCCE team, you will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and development to the maintenance and support of the delivered system for our customers. These roles provide opportunities for you to significantly influence project outcomes. The Boeing SI&WS Software team fosters a collaborative mentoring environment, allowing you to learn, mentor others, and contribute to shaping the future of our organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain responsive applications using Java, Python, React.js and related technologies.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to implement design specifications, align with requirements, and peer code reviews.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend direction, and develop a solution to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient code within the existing codebase, ensuring alignment with established architecture and coding standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, working with end-users to design and build solutions to their needs, a habit of self-directed learning of new technologies, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:  

Required Education and Years of Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related experience OR

  • Master's degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, data science, or computer science and 7+ years of related experience OR

  • PhD from an accredited course of study in engineering, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related experience

  • 4 years of additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree

     

Required Qualifications: ​

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Experience leading software development teams and efforts
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering using modern software development approaches.
  • 5+ years of experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
  • 5+ years of experience with web based development, leveraging ReactJS, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS
  • 3+ years of experience with RESTFul APIs

     

Desired Qualifications: ​

  • 5+ years of experience with open-source software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with fine tuning Kubernetes and the underlying host OS for optimal performance.
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting software and network integration during platform deployments.
  • 3+ years of experience as a well-rounded engineer who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, such as a front-end (UI/UX), database, and backend.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, along with experience supporting Government security requirements for software delivery involving system accreditation.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar tools.

 

Telework/Remote Availability:  Hybrid work is authorized (minimum 3 days onsite per week)

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

$135,000 - $175,000
