Summary
The Controls Electrician performs a variety of advanced electro-mechanical activities to maintain plant equipment and facilities in optimum operating condition following established procedures and receiving direction from the Technical Manager.  These activities include electrical, controls, fixtures, doors, HVAC, and preventative maintenance of all equipment. The Controls Electrician strives to meet all internal customers’ needs while maintaining a high level of safety and quality within budget.  

Duties and Responsibilities 
•    Troubleshoot and repair or replace hardware such as PLC’s, SCADA’s, remote I/O, servos, etc.  
•    Troubleshoot and modify robotic automation systems
•    Troubleshoot electrical control panels, junction boxes, limit switches, sensors, motors (AC/DC), VFDs, conduit and other electrical components
•    Troubleshoots complex problems with equipment where the repair is not immediately visible or obvious
•    Wire new machines and equipment with the latest electrical controls and components.
•    Troubleshoots electrical programs
•    Maintains current knowledge of maintenance and mechanical repair technologies
•    Leads special maintenance or repair projects as assigned
•    Leads small group improvement activities and takes responsibility for team assignments
•    Coordinates with contractors and external resources
•    Provides technical leadership and one-on-one training for Maintenance Technicians 
•    Partners with production personnel to troubleshoot equipment and identify solutions. 
•    Performs routine preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment
•    Diagnoses problems, replaces or repair parts. Tests equipment and makes adjustments
•    Uses, creates or completes required documentation supporting scheduled or completed work into the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
•    Complete work orders, records, logs and other written or computer-based documents
•    Operates material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment
•    Must learn, follow, and actively enforce Lock Out Tag Out procedures
•    Completes continuous learning programs to maintain full proficiency in all department areas and designated areas of specialization (ex. PLC/Electrical)
•    Performs all other duties as assigned
•    Reports all injuries to your supervisor or manager at the time of injury
•    Completes all required training in a timely manner
•    Adheres to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)

Qualifications 
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance 
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience working with automation instrumentation/calibration 
•    Proficiency in PLC and Electrical maintenance 
•    Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
•    Post-high school education such as a technical degree, engineering degree, and/or PLC certification strongly preferred. 
•    Strong technical understanding of equipment maintenance and power tools.
•    Ability to work with automated equipment and power equipment
•    Ability to use AutoCAD to update drawings, dimensioning, etc.
•    Understanding of how SCADA systems operate
•    Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints
•    Valid driver’s license and insurance
•    Ability to complete licensing to operate forklift, scissors, and aerial lift
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers
•    Intermediate computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets
•    Effective written and verbal communication skills
•    Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
•    Ability to work in cross-functional teams
•    Ability to work overtime as needed including weekend and call-in work if necessary.
•    Good organization and problem-solving skills
•    Detail-oriented nature
