Software Engineer Practitioner

Job Summary:

Our client in Kanata, ON is looking for a Software Engineer Practitioner. This is a contract position.

The role: The successful candidate will be part of the Test Automation & Tools Development team, which delivers software solutions that facilitate automated testing of the latest automotive infotainment and connectivity technologies. You will develop automated test tools, libraries, and scripts and maintain automated test suite execution.

Your impact:

  • Develop and maintain software tools and features to assist in automated testing.
  • Develop and maintain test libraries that interface with vehicle electronic control units (ECUs).
  • Interface with development and test teams to understand feature functionality and testing requirements.
  • Devise test scenarios and implement automated test suites for maximum coverage.
  • Contribute to team deliverables through involvement in agile scrum development sprints. 

Basics:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.).
  • 3+ year experience in test automation and tools development.
  • 2+ year experience in Python development and object-oriented design
  • Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience in maintaining automated execution of large number of tests and triaging test results.
  • Detail oriented and adept at detecting and diagnosing software defects.
  • Position fully onsite. 

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262, ASIL safety standard.
  • Knowledge of ARM microprocessor architecture
  • Ability to work in a multi-site team environment where self-driven and self-motivate capabilities are key qualities. 
  • Experience with continuous integration system (Jenkins).
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Shell scripting and Linux development environment.
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, electronics assembly and debugging equipment (ex: multimeter).
  • Experience with C programming for embedded systems.
