Design Release Engineer - Intermediate - PSP
Job Summary:
Our client in Windsor, ON is looking for an Design Release Engineer - Intermediate - PSP. This is a contract position.
What You Will Do:
The Design Release Engineer may work more specifically as a DRE within Passive Safety Electronics Component, Active Chassis Components or other area.
Responsibilities may include (but not limited to):
- Design, release, and validate the passive safety electrical system and its components, leading the process from inception through launch.
- Work closely with supply base to ensure on-time implementation and validation of software, hardware, and diagnostics following company guidelines.
- Interface with Electronic Component Groups, Suppliers, Purchasing, Quality and Assembly Plants to develop Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Braking Actuation Module, Wheel Speed Sensors and Clutch/Brake pedal sensor/switch components.
- Manage product performance to meet vehicle and component level functional, cost and weight targets.
- Perform product release and change management processes.
- Develop software and hardware release timing for feature rollout and performance goal milestones.
- Manage supplier and internal DVPR’s, including:
- Tracking of the validation activities and the related bug-fixes.
- Definition of countermeasures in case of issues and delays.
- Coordination of HW / SW releases of the component, ensuring the alignment with the validation activities.
- Approval of tests results and related deviations.
- Support AQP, PSO, product launch and problem resolution during vehicle launch gates.
Basics:
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
- Design and release experience with automotive ECUs (electronic modules).
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skill.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced work environment; requires minimal direction.
- Logical thinker who can sort through complex issues in pursuit of a resolution.
- Detail oriented, results driven.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Docs.
- Excellent program management and organizational skills.
- Hybrid pisition.
- Occasional trips to the US (1-2 times per month).
Preferred:
- Experience with design, development, and release of ADAS systems/components.
- Experience with DFMEAs, PFMEAs, and DVPRs.
- Familiar with CAN/LIN/LVDS communication protocols and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience in root cause and DFSS techniques (is-is not, 5-why, DMAIC, 8D, 5-penny, fishbone/fault-tree analysis).
- Experience using Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer).
