Material Inventory Coordinator

 

Job Summary:

 

Our client in Troy, MI is looking for a Material Inventory Coordinator. This is a Contract position.

The Material Inventory Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring timely material availability, and supporting efficient warehouse operations. This position is responsible for tracking, auditing, and organizing raw materials, components, and finished goods across designated storage areas. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in inventory systems and physical material handling.

 

What You Get to Do:

·       Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels of raw materials, components, and consumables

·       Perform regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical and system inventory

·       Coordinate inbound and outbound material movements with receiving, production, and shipping teams

·       Label, tag, and organize materials in accordance with storage protocols and safety standards

·       Update inventory records in ERP or WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, etc. )

·       Support material staging for production and ensure timely replenishment

·       Flag damaged, obsolete, or non-conforming materials and coordinate with Quality or EHS teams

·       Assist in physical inventory audits and support Finance with valuation data

·       Maintain clean, organized, and secure storage zones

·       Communicate effectively with procurement, planning, and warehouse teams to resolve inventory issues

 

What You Bring to the Team:

·       High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)

·       2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or material coordination

·       Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems and barcode scanning tools

·       Strong organizational and data entry skills

·       Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs and operate pallet jacks or forklifts (certification preferred)

·       Knowledge of safety and hazmat handling procedures is a plus

·       Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or inventory tracking software

·       Performance Metrics

·       Inventory accuracy rate

·       Cycle count compliance

·       Material availability to support engineering and prototype builds

·       Audit readiness and documentation quality

·       Reduction in inventory discrepancies and write-offs
