The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. Position Summary: ACT is an acronym for “Access to Collaborative Treatment.” Collaborative treatment refers to a model of care in which primary care providers and mental health providers collaborate to ensure social, emotional, and cognitive factors are identified and their impact on physical complaints is mitigated. ACT services is effective for a variety of mental and emotional disturbances. These disturbances include but are not limited to trauma, depression, grief, anxiety, chronic pain, suicidality, and childhood disorders.
ACT takes a trauma informed, strengths-based, and person-centered approach to clients. ACT recognizes the effects of numerous environmental factors that prevent people from living safe and healthy lives. ACT uses evidenced-based interventions including, but not limited to, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Activations, Problem-Solving Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. The ACT Clinician counsels clients about various mental health concerns and seeks to enhance the capacity of clients to address their own needs. ACT services provide screening follow-up, crisis intervention, brief therapy, case management, and appropriate referrals as needed.
ACT services are located within the medical Outpatient Clinic and ACT Clinicians work alongside the medical staff.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Master degree in a human service related field including, Psychology, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy or Social Work.
Minimum Experience: Completion of an accredited Master level degree program. Evidence of one year of employment providing direct clinical care to individuals, families and groups with demonstrated proficiency in clinical/therapeutic activities including assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group counseling, and clinical documentation.
License, Certifications, Registration: LMFT, LPC, LBHP or LCSW. Must be working toward Alaska licensure or be able to obtain Alaska license within six months* of hire. Appropriate documentation supporting pertinent professional certifications and registrations required. *COVID restrictions will be taken into consideration as applicable.
Equipment/Tools: Must have basic computer knowledge, and standard office equipment usage skills.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates experience and professional courtesy in working with different cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups that present varying lifestyles, values, and attitudes. Able to work effectively with diverse teams, build consensus, and facilitate agreed upon change. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport quickly with a wide range of individuals and families. Exhibits strong organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
