Position Summary:

This position is responsible for management of all laboratory resources from staff to equipment to supplies. Ensures safe delivery of lab services on a 24/7 basis which includes professional care and legally working equipment. Is responsible for quality assurance and department budget. Establishes adequate staffing plans for the hospital lab and all satellite services in the sub-regional clinics. Provides staff orientation training and ensures all staff competencies. Trains and mentors lab assistants at the hospital lab and provides oversight to Medical Technologists at the sub-regional clinics for training of those lab assistants. Require exceptional leadership and laboratory skills along with knowledge of regulatory agency standards.

Qualifications:

 

- Minimum Education: BS in Medical Technology or related science .   Meets CLIA requirements for Supervisor
- Minimum Experience: Five (5) years working in a laboratory
- License, Certification, Registration: CLS- ASCP, AMT eligible and obtains within one year of hire or equivalent 
- Equipment/Tools All equipment, software,  and hardware: Specialized Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of laboratory equipment.  Working knowledge of, or experience with concepts and principles to total quality management, team process and change theory.  Requires knowledge of regulatory agency standards related to laboratory services.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages all employees in the Clinical Laboratory.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Steers Laboratory LEAN Program, facilitates change and serves on corporate committees as necessary.  Ensures staff are compliant with all local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.
