The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Position Summary: Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education:  High school diploma or equivalent and 2-year certification program as Medical Assistant. 

Minimum Experience: Outpatient care experience preferred.

License, Certification, Registration: Has completed a formal accredited training program and received national Certified Medical Assistant certificate. CPR Certification

Equipment/Tools: Office machines (i.e., multi-line telephones, copy machines, computer, etc.) Medical equipment as appropriate for position.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Good human relations and oral/written communications skills.  Bilingual Yup'ik/English preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
