Application Engineer (m/f/d) - Power Electronics

Job Summary:

Altair is seeking an engineer to join the Global Technical Team to support technical pre and post sales activities for PSIM and Embed. The work will involve daily communication over email and web presentation with clients and prospects to help understand their simulation and design goals for power converters and motor drives and how the suite of Altair simulation tools can be used to achieve these goals.

 

This position will be a unique opportunity to interact with thought leaders of the power electronics industry who are on the leading edge of research and development. This position will allow you to greatly expand your technical knowledge and abilities into all aspects of power electronics including: switchmode power supplies, motor drives, analog and digital control, DSP and FPGA implementation, etc.

 

What You Will Do: 

  • Support the sales team by evaluating customers’ and new prospects’ requirements and offering solutions and help on product evaluations.
  • Coordinate and lead technical discussions with customers & prospects, on a daily basis.
  • Work daily within our sales & marketing CRM (Hubspot) to complete assigned tasks, send emails, and make phone calls to customers and new prospects.
  • Collaborate with and provide feedback to the sales, marketing, and development teams, on user requirements and use cases, and evaluate the product based on a user perspective.
  • Contribute to a dynamic content editorial calendar that attracts a qualified audience (including blog posts, videos, webinars, etc).
  • Develop and deliver content to demonstrate the features and capabilities of PSIM and other products (ex: simulation application examples, advanced training webinars, etc).
  • Assist with technical writing of selected marketing and communication materials including, but not limited to, blog, print materials, white papers, advertisements.

 

 

What You Will Need:

Basics:

  • B.Sc./M.Sc./PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on power electronics.
  • B.Sc. and 3 years of professional work experience OR M.Sc. and 1 year of professional work experience, OR a PhD degree is required.
  • Programming experience in a C based language, C, C++, or C#
  • Experience in software integration methods and challenges.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well both autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Formal presentation or training delivery skills.

 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with MCU/DSP/FPGA used for power electronics control is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PSIM, Matlab/Simulink, SPICE, Saber or other simulation software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-loop systems such as Typhoon HIL, Opal-RT, RTDS is a plus.
