Purpose/Scope:

This position is responsible for charting and leading the future state of manufacturing in Fabcon across multiple sites. This is achieved through deployment of lean continuous improvement, new technology and automation integration, internal and external best practice benchmarking, and world class total productive maintenance. In addition, this position will train, coach and mentor others at all organizational levels and functions in application of continuous improvement tools and methods to support the drive for a continuous improvement culture at Fabcon.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the company continuous improvement process, standards, and procedures of the Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) system

  • Serves all levels of the organization as a Lean Enterprise guide and internal consultant

  • Build and maintain the corporate lean training modules for Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) appropriate for each level of the organization.Oversee delivery of training by lean mangers and engineers

  • Coaches, leads and develops Continuous Improvement Engineers and managers

  • Coordinates with all manufacturing site leads to maintain improvement opportunity hoppers and facilitate periodic hopper building events

  • Build and maintain process for estimating improvement opportunity benefit, prioritizing, assigning project lead, managing project cycle time, and tracking actual delivered benefit

  • Maintain standards and expectations for Kaizen events including participants, schedule, key deliverables, and tracking metrics.Assess and approve Kaizen proposals from functional and site leadership

  • Provide direction and leadership across all corporation in the development and deployment of total productive maintenance

  • Lead internal bench marking and best practice sharing technology summits as outlined in annual schedule by the Vice president of manufacturing

  • Actively seek external technologies and process equipment to bring into Fabcon facilities for automation and productivity improvements

  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Three (3) years of Lean implementation experience

  • Five (5) years’ experience in management

  • Five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of lean fundamentals including: Kaizens, Gemba, Tier process, and waste elimination.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

  • Ability to comprehend the entire business value stream from customer to supplier

  • Effective communicator, able to speak to all audiences throughout the organization, understanding the various needs of audience members, and tailoring the message to address their concerns; strong written communication skills

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with team members, peers, and management at all levels

  • Strong team facilitation and leadership skills; able to address conflicts and obstacles and guide teams to achieve desired results

  • Ability to transform a project vision into a defined scope and get results while working with available resources and timeline requirements; knowledge of project management fundamentals and experience leading projects

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and lead others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of Lean implementation experience in a process or high-volume job shop manufacturing environment

  • MBA Preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time

  • Office: Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time

  • Plant/Yard: Move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection

Work Environment:

  • Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting

  • Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways
