Our Johnson Matthey Technology Centre are recruiting for an External Programme Coordinator

Reporting into the External Programmes Manager, this role will support Johnson Matthey’s research community to secure strategic partnerships through participation in externally funding programmes including consortiums and PhDs (e.g. Innovate UK, EU and DoE programmes).

This role will have responsibility for managing the external programmes portfolio, providing timely advice on external funding opportunities, being a point of contact for external funding bodies, maintaining project administration and processes from first engagement to project close out. In addition this role will supporting the Open Innovation department with insights and opportunities for external engagement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Business partner, growing high engagement with business units and R&D leaders
  • Understanding of external funding mechanisms, keeping up to date on funding rules and upcoming calls
  • A point of contact for external funding engagement into JM
  • Dissemination of early intelligence on funding opportunities
  • Working with group finance to support external budget
  • Provide technical support for tax credits
  • Develop automated dashboards through software (tableau) for external projects technology pipeline
  • Liaise with external partners and internal teams to ensure bids are delivered on time and accurately.
  • Form effective external networks aligned to JMs strategy to provide maximum value to JM
  • Support JM in proposal writing where required

Are you the ideal candidate?  

You will have:

  • Degree in a scientific subject or the equivalent level of experience
  • Highly proficient in the use of spreadsheets, databases and tableau (desirable)
  • Awareness and importance of intellectual property and funding body rules.
  • Good working knowledge of or previous experience working with externally funded projects (eg EU or UKRI)
  • Ability to support finance with external programs finances.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to focus on priorities and to work flexibly, whilst providing efficient project management support over a number of projects
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with different audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
