To get that story across, JM needs effective channels to make sure we can reach our audiences, both internally and externally. As the Digital Channels Manager you’ll have the opportunity to assess the health of JM’s channels and design a robust, scalable end-to-end channels strategy for the group. Leading a small digital team, you’ll operate a centre of excellence on channels, acting as the company’s expert adviser on all things digital and influencing the direction of channel improvement projects to ensure we match up to the latest thinking and best practices. You’ll lead a step change in JM’s maturity around data and analytics, ensuring data sits at the heart of decision making for the wider Corporate Affairs team. And you’ll also design and implement the processes that will allow our channels to run smoothly, both within the digital team and with stakeholders across JM.

Your responsibilities:

  • Development, implementation and ongoing management of global internal and external Channels strategy (including planning, monitoring, reporting and content)
  • Management of JM’s external and internal digital channels including reviewing, auditing and consolidating removing multiple intranets, websites, social media accounts etc
  • Regularly review and audit digital channels ensuring policies are being consistently applied to maintain quality
  • Provide advice and consultation on using multi-channel approach for campaigns, news, CEO comms and crisis communications
  • Identify capability gaps and manage suppliers providing specialist front-end design, back-end development and content development services including Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and User Experience (UX) to map and understand stakeholder journey
  • Provide regular activity/progress reports, ROI and data analysis across all channels with recommendations on how to continually improve stakeholder engagement    

Requirements for the role:

  • Expert knowledge of the development and implementation of a global channels strategy with a proven track record of working in complex organisations.
  • Extensive experience in digital communication channels including customer facing websites, corporate intranets and social media.
  • Significant knowledge of communication channels and media, practices, frameworks and governance mechanisms and using them to add value to multi audience campaigns.
  • Excellent writing skills, creative flair and experience of editing material provided by others.
  • A deep understanding of the relationship between business, reputation and corporate communications strategy.
  • In-depth experience of working and influencing in complex, technical organisations, working in a collaborative manner to influence and align multiple internal stakeholders
