Overview of the Position

You will be supporting the Space Systems Command Space Systems Architect (SSC/ZA) Directorate Action Group (DAG).  SSC/ZA is responsible for defining the current and future space architectures, supporting the development and production of ACAT programs, responding to warfighter requirements, evaluating emerging technologies, communicating with international, commercial, and inter-agency partners.

Description of duties

The ZA DAG interacts with Directorate leadership on a daily basis and is responsible for tracking and managing communication products, taskers, and the Directorate’s highest priority efforts.  We are hiring individuals with program management, engineering, contracting, cost estimating, and financial management experience to support our Space Force customers in El Segundo, CA.  You will be in the premier space acquisition organization responsible for delivering space-based capabilities and effects to our warfighters and allied partners.  Key duties associated with this position include: 

  • Apply critical thinking and experience to develop solutions for our customer’s most challenging issues;

  • Develop reports, briefings, and other communication products that summarize accomplishments, cost, schedule, technical performance risks, and issues;

  • Manage information requests, inquiries, and tasks through completion.  This includes facilitating coordination with internal/external stakeholders and staffing products for review/approval to Directorate leadership;

  • Perform research and analysis that summarizes relevant issues, incorporates policy and guidance, addresses government, industry, and international partner perspectives to provide recommendations and/or potential courses of action;

  • Research, draft, and edit articles, speeches, testimony, and other communication products;

  • Review, coordinate, and facilitate the security and policy review of information for public release;

  • Support customer meetings, which includes providing read-ahead materials, drafting meeting minutes, and tracking assigned action items.

Basic qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 7 or more years of acquisition and contracting experience supporting Air Force and/or DoD Programs

  • APDP level II certification in one or more of the following disciplines Program Management, Contracting, Cost Estimating, Financial Management, Engineering and/or Program Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to complete PMP certification within 12 months after hire

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both orally and in writing with technical accuracy

  • Expertise using MS Office applications and software

  • US Citizenship and possess an active DoD Secret clearance

  • Limited travel may be required

Preferred qualifications

  • Completion of a Master's degree in a related field

  • 12 or more years of acquisition and contracting experience supporting Air Force and/or DoD Programs

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of Department of Defense, Air Force, and/or Space Force processes and procedures
