The Opportunity: Creative Manager

The Creative Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing design and creation, visual brand identity, and production aspects for a wide variety of print, digital/web, social media and other advertising projects that support Chicago Public Media’s integrated marketing and branding initiatives.This position will work closely with various department stakeholders to translate marketing and communications strategies into compelling creative concepts to consistently bring the WBEZ and Vocalo brands to vision

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead creation and production of engaging visual marketing assets for digital, social, email and direct mail campaigns.
  • Work closely with Sr. Manager to develop the creative needs of the organization, including the evolution of the organization’s brand identity and visual standards.
  • Create and ideate branded visual elements for new shows, signature events and products; including logo creation, selection of colors, images and typefaces.
  • Own and evangelize brand guidelines internally and act as brand approver for external designers.
  • Maintain asset management and increase user-friendliness of brand assets and templates.
  • Support design needs for internal and external presentations.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 5-7+ years’ experience producing campaigns and designs at an in-house marketing team or agency.

  • Excellent creative and conceptualization skills with an ability to execute impactful, engaging creative across platforms including digital/social, print and merchandising.

  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator).

  • Experience working with presentation software like Keynote, PowerPoint and Google Slides

  • Understanding of design standards for both desktop and mobile environments

  • Understanding of social media and streaming platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

  • Experience working in an email marketing platform strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and responsive design preferred.

  • Experience in copywriting a plus.

  • Strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office.

Due to current COVID restrictions, you must be able to work remotely at your own designated location with Internet access and you must be willing and able to work at our Navy Pier offices, if needed. Right now, most of our staff is working remotely.
