The Opportunity: Marketing Campaign Manager

The Marketing Campaign Manager will play a vital role in generating new audiences for Chicago Public Media. Their primary focus will be leading ideation and execution of campaigns that acquire addressable relationships across WBEZ and Vocalo’s digital platforms, including email newsletters and our mobile apps. They will also be the subject matter expert for performance marketing platforms and work with various stakeholders to identify new platforms and tactics to grow the reach and impact of the content from WBEZ and Vocalo — from our up-to-the-minute digital and broadcast content to our on-demand audio, events, and digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Devise marketing strategies that generate addressable relationships and other forms of audience development for key WBEZ and Vocalo products, with focus in acquiring new mobile app downloads, website registered users and newsletter subscribers.

  • Execute campaigns across paid and owned channels from kick-off through execution; managing timelines, messaging, interdepartmental approvals and budgets.

  • Measure, monitor, and optimize performance across multiple channels as best possible given varied user conversion paths

  • Collaborate with business and content owners to identify and deploy new opportunities to increase audience growth on CPM digital platforms.

  • Work closely with Product team to identify opportunities to drive onsite web conversions.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and internal admin for key vendors (Facebook, Google Ads, etc.), managing the platforms as well as ongoing interactions.

  • Grow industry expertise and thought leadership in display, paid social, and mobile application marketing.

  • Stay current on technical and competitive trends and changes in the industry to leverage new opportunities and best practices in driving growth for CPM, sharing knowledge and insights across the organization.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in ideating and executing digital marketing campaigns.

  • Experience in managing campaigns across display advertising, paid social and SEM; including strong familiarity with key technologies and vendors.

  • Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven mindset for decision making.

  • Knowledge and experience with web analytical tools and interfaces (e.g., Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics) preferred.

  • Outstanding collaboration skills with a proven ability to work cross-functionally and gain the respect and support of internal stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinker with a keen interest in the media landscape, with knowledge of the latest trends and best practices that drive audience conversion and retention.

  • Strong listening, writing, and speaking skills.

  • Experience working closely with creative teams to build brand and campaign assets.

  • Experience in email lead acquisition and mobile application marketing, preferred.

Due to current COVID restrictions, you must be able to work remotely at your own designated location with Internet access and you must be willing and able to work at our Navy Pier offices, if needed. Right now, most of our staff is working remotely.
