ECS is seeking a Release Manager to work in our Fairfax, VA office (hybrid).  Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

 

Job Description:

ECS is seeking talented professionals who love a challenge to join us in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete ‘Data Services’ solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is a cloud-hosted solution comprised of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS), software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.

The Release Manager will be responsible for managing the complete software delivery lifecycle, from planning and scheduling to deployment and post-release support. This role requires close collaboration with development, testing, and operations teams to ensure that releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Release Planning: Develop and maintain the release schedule, coordinating with various teams to ensure alignment with project timelines and business goals.
  • Coordination and Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all release-related activities, ensuring clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including developers, testers, IT operations, and program leadership.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with releases, ensuring that potential issues are addressed proactively.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all releases meet quality standards by coordinating testing efforts and validating that all requirements are met before deployment.
  • Deployment Management: Oversee the deployment process, ensuring that releases are deployed smoothly and efficiently with minimal disruption to production environments.
  • Post-Release Support: Monitor releases post-deployment, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring that they are resolved promptly.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve the release management process by implementing best practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Required Skills:

  • US citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent technical project experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in release management or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with Agile tools (for example JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Solid understanding of Amazon Web Services offerings.
  • Experience with DHS Programs and the DHS Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
  • SAFe Agile Experience and/or Certification.
  • Experience with release management tools and automation.
  • ITIL Practitioner Certification and ITIL Foundations Certification.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
