Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to assure actuarial and financial soundness of Medicaid Premium rates for the assigned lines of business. Prepare financial proformas and communicate risk and opportunities to the business leaders.
  • Manage analyses in support of benefit and provider reimbursement changes, cost containment programs, and revenue rate changes/adjustments from State Medicaid offices.
  • Work with matrix partners and develop strategies to strengthen the financial performance of LOBs. Develop financial reporting, experience studies to underscore key points and emerging trend.    
  • Lead the development of actuarial forecasts including management of pricing and forecasting assumptions, collaborate with provider network teams and support value optimization strategies.
  • Responsible for management and execution of all actuarial functions in support of assigned lines of business and assure that all work is done based on sound actuarial principles and on timely basis.
  • Responsible for managing all staff in support of the assigned lines of businesses, including organizing, hiring, developing, and assuring quality work product.

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required - Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other business field
  • Must be credentialed actuary and member of Academy of Actuaries with FSA or ASA
  • 10+ years progressively responsible actuarial experience in managed healthcare with 3-5 years people management experience at a senior level.
  • Strong communication, people management, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to influence others
