Automotive Worker

Description

The Automotive Worker performs a variety of minor repairs and services to maintain motor vehicles:

• Places and maintains decals on vehicles
• Checks and replaces batteries
• Rotates, repairs, and replaces tires
• Washes, polishes, and cleans interiors and exteriors of vehicles
• Drains, flushes, and replaces engine, transmission, and differential grease and oils
• Checks, cleans, calibrates, and replaces spark plugs
• Cleans and replaces oil and air filters
• Adjusts brakes, replaces windshield wipers, and similar minor parts
• Assists on major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts
• Repairing components such as generators and water pumps
• Replacing thermostats, points, electrical wiring and other items
• Maintains tools and equipment
• Cleans work areas

Required Skills and Experience

• Must have and demonstrate at least 1 year direct experience and general knowledge of basic maintenance functions as listed in the above Position Description and Maintenance Functions
• At least two years' experience with general maintenance functions or must have demonstrated at least two years direct experience
• General knowledge of basic maintenance functions as listed in the above Position Description and Maintenance Functions on Military vehicles such as the M-ATV Oskhosh, Oshkosh MaxxPro, MRAP, HUMVEE
• Possesses personal tools that meets the required tool list
• US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain base access
• Must be able to pass a criminal pre-employment background check and drug screening
• Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license with the SC REAL ID indicated upon date of hire
