The Network Engineer will provide on-site support monitoring network performance to ensure system availability and reliability by administering various devices and services [website] routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, WIFI:

• Maintaining systems software (upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations)
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the security team
• Work with users and other personnel for problem resolution
• Support a multi-platform server environment including server and software installation, configuration, maintenance, configuration management, patch management, security compliance and troubleshooting
• Develop, document and maintain good operating practices and procedures associated with support and maintenance of server environments
• Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems
• Lead strategic planning and development associated with system support
• Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made
• Conducts system security configuration and testing based on organizational guidance, policies and procedures
• Provide senior level support and communicate periodically with users on systems status, including system changes, problems, enhancements and potential impacts
• Designing, configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Local Baltimore-Washington D.C. and Long-Distance travel may occasionally be required.


Required Skills and Experience

• Five-plus years’ experience as a Windows System Administrator
• Qualified candidates must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a focus in Information Technology or related field; substitution of relevant experience for required education will be considered
• CCNP certification is a minimum
• Experience with Cisco Firewalls, VPN appliance, switching support and troubleshooting techniques
• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers and switches
• Solid understanding of LAN, WAN systems and user rights
• Proven hands-on experience
• Network certification: CCNA, CCNP
• Deep understanding of networking protocols [website] IPsec, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
• Solid understanding DevOps Networking
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
• Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
• Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
• Strong problem determination and resolution skills
• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
• Experience with Linux operating system support and troubleshooting techniques
• Basic understanding of server back-up and restore processes
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization
• Must be able to write procedures and technical content related to position responsibilities
• Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers
• Must work effectively in a team environment, multi-team setting, as well as independently
• Must know how to provide a status on assigned deliverables (i.e., estimate their work)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Cisco Skilled and Certified
• Knowledge of Dell PowerEdge hardware
• Microsoft Exchange administration
• Basic Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle database installation and administration
• Basic understanding of LAN/WAN technologies
