Description |
The Systems Safety Engineer will assist the Principal for Safety for U.S. Navy Combat Systems in coordinating and executing the safety program:
• Perform high level safety analyses reviews and review system designs for safety impacts • Map system design requirements to safety requirements • Prepare Technical Data Packages, Letter Data Packages, and presentations for Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP), and Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) • Prepare correspondence letters to SSSTRP/WSESRB • Prepare MIL-STD-882 documentation including System Safety Management Plan, System Safety Program Plan, Preliminary Hazard List/Analysis, Subsystem Hazard Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, and Assessment Reports • Develop meeting agendas/ announcements and obtain meeting venues, prepare presentations, record/track action items, and record meeting minutes
Required Skills and Experience
• Thorough understanding of software safety analyses and techniques • Ability to develop and understand Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) • Experience in implementation of a MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program • Working knowledge of MS Office suite of software (notably MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint) • Thorough understanding of MIL-STD-882 requirements • Familiarity with forming and running System Safety Working Groups (SSWGs) • Experience in performing high level safety analyses reviews • Experience in reviewing system designs for safety impacts • Experience in mapping system design requirements to safety requirements
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience of U.S. Naval undersea warfare systems • Shipboard combat systems safety experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Required Clearance
Must possess a verifiable Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
