ECS is seeking an ARPA-H Mid-Level Scientist (Biology/Biomedical) to work in our Washington, DC (Hybrid) office.  Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

 

Job Description:

Are you a passionate Mid-Level Scientist in Biology or Biomedical Engineering that supports R&D initiatives through the delivery of expertise in your given field?  Are you ready to support the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) in their mission to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone by supporting complex and leading-edge R&D projects designed to arrive at high-impact solutions to society's most challenging health problems?

 

ECS seeks talented and driven Biomedical Engineers to join our team in support of ARPA-H.  In this crucial role, you will serve as a scientific and technical advisor—providing support and thought leadership to the awarded performer teams responsible for generating R&D solutions for ARPA-H and its focus areas.

 

About ARPA-H:  ARPA-H accelerates better health outcomes for everyone by supporting the development of high-impact solutions to society's most challenging health problems.

 

What you will do:

  • Provide technical support to an ARPA-H Program Manager by serving as scientific and technical advisors for cutting-edge research projects.
  • Support program managers in development of new research programs, methods, concepts, and operational processes.
  • Support ARPA-H performers and scientists via your field(s) of expertise, knowledge of emerging technologies in this field(s), and your abilities to analyze and solve problems.
  • Provide strategic assessments of methods and technologies related to the development of technologies and devices.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians to translate research discoveries into real-world applications.
  • Prepare briefings and other documents to include strategic messaging in support of an ARPA-H Program Manager and the transformative programs being supported.

 

Required Skills:

  • At least 12 years of experience in biology or biomedical engineering.  For field of expertise, we can consider a wide range (relevant examples include biotechnology, cancer biology, drug delivery and discovery, genomics, imaging, immunology, medical devices, molecular biology, ocular, tissue engineering, virology, etc.).
  • Experienced planning and developing complex R&D projects of a research and development nature.
  • Skilled in conceiving, planning, and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity requiring unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated research techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct appropriate analyses designed to offer recommendations, solutions, and alternatives to resolve R&D issues, concerns, problems, or methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of advanced techniques, theories, precepts, and practices.
  • required in the field/disciplines to which you are currently providing expertise.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required per contract.

 

Desired Skills:

  • One year or more experience working with ARPA Program Managers.
  • Published articles in Field of Expertise highly desirable.
  • Experience preparing briefings and other documents of a biomedical, scientific research, or healthcare nature. Includes support for strategic messaging development.
