JOB TITLE: Physical Therapy Aide

SUPERVISOR: Director of Rehabilitation Services

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs (Split between 2 locations, M/W/F at the Tigard location, T/Th at the Beaverton location)/Non-Exempt 

DEPARTMENT: Rehabilitation Services

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for following supervisor’s instructions involving patient care, organization, and clean-up of treatment areas, and office duties, as needed. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
1. Assists patients to treatment area and helps prepare patient for treatment as appropriate.* 
2. Assists with treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist as allowed in the State Practice Act.* 
3. Communicates with supervisor and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient’s response to treatment.* 
4. Keeps treatment areas clean, organized and unobstructed. Cleans equipment after treatment and changes linen as appropriate.* 
5. Maintains adequate supply inventory for clinic and organizes treatment area.* 
6 Helps with copying and printing home exercise programs. 
7. Answers telephones, takes messages, checks messages and assists with patients at front desk.* 
8. Demonstrates ability to use information technology in completing assigned job tasks.* 
9. Processes incoming therapy orders. Opens and sorts mail. Distributes to appropriate person. 
10. Verifies all forms are complete and signatures are in place. Obtains referral from patient and places in medical chart. Verifies insurance. Tracks re-authorizations.* 
11. Schedules patient appointments. Places reminder calls to new patients and follow-up patients. Documents no shows and cancellations. Prints schedules for next day and distributes to therapists.* 
12. Distributes patient satisfaction surveys. 
13. Demonstrates effective communication methods either written, verbal, non-verbal or electronic. Follows up with front office related issues using the appropriate chain of command. Has a positive influence on others.* 
14. Listens to and acknowledges the concerns of patients and co-workers. Communicates effectively with patients and co-workers exchanging information and opinions constructively. Treats all patients with respect.* 
15. Exercises good judgment in communication with regard to timing, circumstances, place and person. Does not breach patient confidentiality.* 
16. Makes effective decisions that reflect clear and logical thinking. Demonstrates flexibility and open mindedness in examining new approaches in response to changing organizational objectives. Identifies and works proactively to solve problems. Views change as an opportunity or a challenge.* 
17. Acknowledges patients immediately when they approach the desk. Makes frequent contact with waiting patients. Demonstrates willingness and ability to go the “extra mile” in meeting customer needs. Represents the clinic professionally.* 
18. Identifies and responds appropriately to both internal and external customer needs utilizing available resources. Keeps composure under stress. Is approachable and compassionate.* 
19. Prioritizes work activities based on clinic demands to complete assignments within designated timeframes with little to no supervision. 
20. Reports to work as scheduled and on time per departmental policy. Consistently uses time-clock appropriately with no more than four missed punches. Time away from work is approved by supervisor and taken in accordance with established departmental policies.* 
21. Ensures environmental safety and complies with all federal and state regulations and consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety and infection control into daily activities as outlined in The Portland Clinic handbook and OSHA/MSDS guidelines. * 
22. Uses protective equipment and takes appropriate precautions whenever there is a potential for contact with blood, body fluids, and/or chemicals. Maintains an organized, clean, and functional workspace.* 
23. Follows policy when accidents occur. Ability to cite emergency evacuation procedures and location of fire extinguishers for the clinic.* 
25. Participate as an active member in a patient-centered medical home. 
24. Employees will not be discourteous or disrespectful to a customer or any member of the public while in the course and scope of company business.* 
25. Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, customers and vendors.* 
26. Abide by company policies.* 
27. Attend work regularly as scheduled.* 
28. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent 
Current CPR Certification
