JOB TITLE: Operational Database Administrator    

SUPERVISOR: IT Director

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs (M-F 8am-5pm, nights & weekends as necessary)/Exempt   

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To maintain Epic and related system health by performing daily maintenance tasks and monitoring overall system performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
1.    Installing and maintaining the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of the Epic system.*
2.    Monitor performance of the Epic database and associated systems.*
3.    Troubleshoot database/system performance issues.*
4.    Manage logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configurations.*
5.    Apply IRIS and Epic updates/upgrades to production and non-production environments. *
6.    Configure and maintain environment copies according to environment strategy and timelines.*
7.    Ensure minimal downtime of systems during clinical operating hours.*
8.    Respond to emergency and after-hours issues.*
9.    Engage in capacity planning exercised to ensure adequate system resources.
10.    Collaborate with technical and Epic applications team to ensure minimal system performance issues.*
11.    Write and maintain scripts to improve system management tasks*.
12.    Participate in change control for all planned application and technical activities.*
13.    Participate in business continuity planning and exercises.*
14.    Maintain and testing processes related to business continuity.*
15.    Follow vendor and Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration.
16.    Assisting with customer support activities.*
17.    Contribute to activities related to lifecycle, security, and strategic initiatives.*
18.    Document procedures, processes, and systems as necessary.*
19.    Follow and enforce HIPAA guidelines at all times.*
20.    Communicate with project leadership, application coordinators, subject matter experts and Epic representatives as a contributor to the project team.*
21.    Willingly engage in help desk activities and provide customer support as necessary.*
22.    Work respectfully and collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.*
23.    Attend work regularly as scheduled.*

Tablets, desktop computers and printers
LCD projectors
Basic office equipment such as telephone, fax, photocopy machine

EDUCATION/LICENSES PREFERRED: 
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS PREFERRED: 
Unix/IRIS Experience
Epic ODB Certification
Knowledge of a command shell (Korn, POSIX, Bourne, or C), plus languages and utilities such as awk, sed, and Perl
Strong troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills
