JOB TITLE: Clinical Call Center MA

SUPERVISOR: Nursing Supervisor

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs (M-F 8am - 5pm)/Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Clinical Call Center

*This is a work from home position after onsite training period. Must be located in Oregon or Washington*

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for taking patient phone calls according to the approved written protocols. Assist with electronic in basket work between telephone calls including MyChart messages. Escalate calls as needed to the Clinical Call Center RN for triage and advice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) 
1.    Maintain communications with Clinical Call Center Supervisor. *
2.    Interact with supervisor to resolve inter-department problems, concerns or conflicts. *
3.    Comply with HIPAA regulations at all times.*
4.    Assist in completing tasks from the in baskets in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), such as MyChart messages, letters to patients, expiring orders, etc.
5.    Schedule patients for appointments as needed.
6.    Follow The Portland Clinic’s (TPC) guidelines for documentation, including use of forms and computer data entry using the EHR. *
7.    Maintain safety standards such as use of patient safety equipment, knowledge of emergency procedures, body mechanics and ergonomics.*
8.    Participate in quality improvement projects, including assessment of office functions and systems with implementation of methods to improve efficiency and outcomes as requested by supervisor.
9.    Attend nursing department meetings and in-services.*
10.    Answer patient’s phone calls and messages in a timely manner. *
11.    Maintain high level of confidentiality. *
12.    Participate as a team member to assist and train others as needed.
13.    Work closely with Clinical Call Center RNs, asking for their guidance in patient care situations as necessary. *
14.    Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home.
15.    Work respectfully and collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.*
16.    Attend work regularly as scheduled. * 

REQUIREMENTS:
⦁    Current Medical Assistant Certification or must fulfill the requirements for Certification within 60 days from your date of hire. If met, you must also provide proof of having been issued MA Certification within 90 days of your date of hire, -OR-
⦁    Current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license (basic or advance) and national EMT registration with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
⦁    High School Diploma or equivalent
⦁    Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification

PREFERENCES:
⦁    Previous experience in ambulatory care
⦁    Values team success

⦁    Proficiency in charting and documentation
⦁    Oral communication skills and excellent phone etiquette with an ability to convey and receive information via the telephone
⦁    Competency in language, grammar, and spelling
⦁    Ability to interact and establish good rapport with people over the telephone and in person, often in stressful situations
⦁    Capability of effectively working on more than one task without a reduction in the quality of work and service performed
⦁    Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and to work under pressure
⦁    Ability to accept responsibility and use initiative to proceed with necessary tasks without direct supervision
