JOB TITLE: Sonographer

SUPERVISOR: Radiology Manager 

HOURS PER WEEK: 24hrs/Non-Exempt (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday at Downtown and Tigard locations)

DEPARTMENT: Radiology

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for performing the full range of Ultrasound Imaging examinations on patients as ordered by physicians and for the care, operation and maintenance of the Ultrasound equipment. Works under the direction of the Radiologist and with direct supervision of the Radiology Manager. Performs a variety of technical and aseptic procedures that requires independent judgment and initiative. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (* ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
1.    Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams on patients.*
2.    Explain and coach patient through the procedure, including acting as escort and providing necessary assistance.*
3.    Clean tables and ultrasound equipment (probes, etc.)*
4.    Assure that all Order information for exam is correct in Electronic Health Record (EHR).*
5.    Interact with Radiologists for approval of exam and consultation for further imaging, call reports, etc.*
6.    Perform clerical duties related to the job including previewing upcoming appointments for order appropriateness, requesting any needed historical exams.*
7.    Complete and Scan appropriate worksheets into PACS and assure all images appear in PACS correctly.*
8.    Send images to Tele-radiology company and complete all needed information for radiologist interpretations in a timely manner.*
9.    Respond to emergency situations.*
10.    Maintain clean work area.*
11.    Test Revital-Ox solution on a daily basis.
12.    Take inventory of supplies and order as necessary.
13.    Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home.
14.    Employees will not be discourteous or disrespectful to a customer or any member of the public while in the course and scope of company business.*
15.    Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, customers and vendors.*
16.    Abide by company policies.*
17.    Other duties as assigned.
18.    Attend work regularly as scheduled.*

EQUIPMENT USED: Diagnostic ultrasound equipment including color flow capabilities, multipurpose probes, EHR and PACS

REQUIREMENTS:
⦁    ARDMS certified and maintain that status via CME throughout employment
⦁    Current State of Oregon license
⦁    CPR Certification 

PREFERENCES: 
⦁     3-5 years diagnostic Ultrasound experience
⦁    Graduate of technical school or related job experience
⦁    Basic understanding of Medical Terminology
⦁    Current diagnosis and procedural coding
⦁    Basic understanding of infection control
⦁    Legalities of charting and telephone conversations
⦁    Values team success

⦁    Shows an interest in taking action to increase his/her knowledge and development as an employee

⦁    Capability of effectively working on more than one task without a reduction in the quality of work and service performed
⦁    Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and to work under pressure
⦁    Ability to accept responsibility and use initiative to proceed with necessary tasks without direct supervision
