JOB TITLE: ASC Clinical Nurse Educator

SUPERVISOR: Director of Surgery Centers

HOURS PER WEEK: 20-30hrs/Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Day Surgery

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for coordinating and assisting the staff to complete all required annual training. Also completes education and coordination of staff transitioning to new roles or the same roles within different services in the center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) 
1. Ensures educational activities are congruent with TPC’s mission and strategic plan. *
2. Provides an appropriate climate for learning, and facilitates the learning process by developing, planning, and presenting educational activities and directly or indirectly fostering the development of competence in the clinical staff. *
3. Keeps current with emerging best practices in peri-operative care as it pertains to support staff’s clinical practices. *
4. Assists in defining, maintaining, and interpreting standards of nursing practice related to peri-operative care. *
5. Assists managers and supervisors in identifying department learning needs and effective learning activities/strategies required to meet those needs. *
6. Provides professional growth and development opportunities for clinical staff. *
7. Assists in coordinating education and training for new services, equipment and supplies in clinical areas. *
8. Actively plans and participates in annual educational fair to ensure all mandatory trainings are completed.
9. Ensures proper documentation of all annual training, annual competencies, and other required trainings to be available for review by inspectors of the state, accrediting body, or CMS as all times.
10. Provides recommendations in facilitating the compliance of Oregon state regulations and scope of practice for MA, CORT, CSPT, and RN, etc. roles in ambulatory surgery setting. *
11. Supports the initiatives of the QAPI committee and partners with the QA and IP leads to identify quality measures and initiatives to improve patient outcomes. *
12. Assists with clinical policy review, revision and compliance. *
13. Serves as a resource and facilitator, in conjunction with managers, to identify clinical improvement opportunities and subsequent clinical process and workflow improvements.
14. Serves as a resource for Epic / EMR utilization for clinical staff training, partnering with the IS department.*
15. Attends and actively participates in department meetings as needed as well as various other meetings as requested.
16. Works closely with leadership for protocol development and policy/procedure development, review, revision and monitoring. *
17. Assists department with compliance to product recalls. *
18. Attend work regularly as scheduled*
19. Travel to all clinical sites. *
20. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Current Oregon state RN licensure
Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification
Minimum of 5 years nursing experience
Clinical education and/or precepting experience

Experience/Qualifications Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Skills and Abilities:
Able to consistently demonstrate essential clinical competencies for this role and license/certification.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of protocol, procedures, and standards of patient care.
Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to travel between multiple locations.
Experience with Epic preferred but not required.
Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
Experience in leading quality and safety initiatives.
Ability to manage multiple projects in varying stages of development
