JOB TITLE: Registered Dietitian

SUPERVISOR: NTE Branch Manager 

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs/Exempt (Position is split between our Northeast and Beaverton offices)

DEPARTMENT: Diabetes/Nutrition

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position will be responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and diabetes self-management education (DSME) for patients seen by providers at The Portland Clinic.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
1.    Perform comprehensive nutritional assessments on patients and develop a nutrition care plan.*
2.    Document assessments, care plan, patient teaching, and billing in the electronic medical record. *
3.    Confer with referring provider and/or PCP and/or treatment team*
4.    Instruct and counsel patients and their families about nutrition as it applies to medical conditions.*
5.    Develop and teach nutrition related classes as needed.*
6.    Prepare educational material for classes and individual teaching.
7.    Meet with new providers as applicable/appropriate.
8.    Perform diabetes self-management education in alignment with requirements to maintain accreditation by the American Diabetes Association
9.    Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home.
10.    Employees will not be discourteous or disrespectful to a customer or any member of the public while in the course and scope of company business.*
11.    Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, customers and vendors.*
12.    Work with the marketing dept as needed/applicable for topic proposals and writing or reviewing nutrition articles and recipes.
13.    Abide by company policies.*
14.    Attend work regularly as scheduled.* 

EQUIPMENT USED:
Office equipment such as computer, copier, fax machine etc.

REQUIREMENTS:
⦁    Licensed Dietitian State of Oregon
⦁    Registered Dietitian with Commission on Dietetic Registration
⦁    Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification OR annual completion of 15 hours of continuing education (CE) from the Certification board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE). Non CDCES applicants must accrue their CE hours within the first four months of joining.
⦁    Current BLS/HCP Certification through AHA

PREFERENCES:
⦁    Ability to educate patients on use of diabetes devices such as blood glucose monitors, continuous glucose monitors.
⦁    Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
⦁    Previous experience in nutrition counseling/education with experience in behavior modification techniques for lifestyle related illness
⦁    Ability to make complex health care decisions
⦁    Strong nutrition assessment skills
⦁    Proven competency in nutritional assessment
⦁    Strong foundation in general medical nutrition
⦁    Proficiency in electronic charting and documentation
⦁    Basic understanding of Medical Terminology
⦁    Basic understanding of infection control
⦁    Basic understanding of legalities of charting and telephone conversations
⦁    Basic understanding of current diagnostic & procedures codes
⦁    Values team success
