Director, Whole Loan Valuation

The Director, Whole Loan Valuation will lead the valuation function for whole loan portfolios within our Capital Markets Solutions group. This role is critical to supporting the bank’s capital and secondary market activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and insightful valuation of whole loan assets across a variety of asset classes. As a key member of the Capital Markets Solutions team, this role will partner closely with Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, and Technology teams to develop and maintain robust valuation frameworks, support transaction pricing, and provide strategic insights into loan portfolio performance and market dynamics.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the valuation function and process for the bank’s whole loan portfolio.
- Develop and maintain valuation models and methodologies aligned with market best practices and regulatory standards.
- Drive the pricing, structuring, and execution of whole loan transactions.
- Partner with Enterprise Risk Management and Finance teams to ensure consistency in valuation inputs, assumptions, reporting and analytics.
- Monitor market trends, credit performance, and macroeconomic indicators to inform valuation assumptions.
- Oversee third-party valuation providers and ensure quality and consistency of external pricing data.
- Present valuation results and insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Support regulatory and audit requests related to valuation practices and documentation.
- Drive automation and process improvements in valuation workflows and reporting.
- Appropriately identifies and assesses risk when business decisions are made, including but not limited to compliance and operational risks.
- Demonstrates consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s or CFA preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in whole loan valuation, structured finance, or capital markets.
- Deep understanding of loan-level cash flow modeling, credit risk, and market pricing dynamics.
- Proficiency in valuation tools and platforms (e.g., Intex, Bloomberg, Yield Book, or similar).
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with advanced Excel and programming skills (Python, SQL, or R) a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts to senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in a wholesale or investment banking environment is highly desirable
- Ability to use strong reasoning skills to develop mutually acceptable solutions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a hands-on approach to work
