Director, Mortgage Finance Credit

The Director, Mortgage Finance Credit will lead credit risk evaluation and portfolio oversight for our bank’s Mortgage Warehouse Lending business. This role will contribute to the bank’s capital and secondary markets strategy by ensuring prudent credit underwriting, monitoring, and risk management of mortgage finance counterparties.  This role will partner closely with relationship managers, credit risk, capital markets, and operations teams to assess client creditworthiness, structure lending facilities, and monitor ongoing performance across a diverse set of mortgage originators and servicers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead credit analysis and underwriting for mortgage warehouse lending clients, including independent mortgage banks, and non-bank financial institutions.
  • Prepare, analyze, evaluate, and monitor commercial counterparty financial statements, liquidity profiles, and capital adequacy.
  • Evaluate financial statements, loan performance data, operational practices, and market positioning to assess credit risk.
  • Structure and recommend credit facilities, including advance rates, eligibility criteria, covenants, and collateral terms.
  • Monitor client performance, borrowing base compliance, and market developments to proactively manage risk.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support new client onboarding, renewals, and amendments.
  • Prepare and present detailed credit memos and risk assessments to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of mortgage market trends, regulatory developments, and secondary market dynamics.
  • Support the development of credit risk frameworks, policies, and reporting tools.
  • Contribute to a culture of credit excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Influence and contribute to the credit strategy and risk management practices across a growing platform.
  • Appropriately identifies and assesses risk when business decisions are made, including but not limited to compliance and operational risks.
  • Demonstrates consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues.

     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in credit analysis, mortgage finance, or warehouse lending.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage origination, servicing, and secondary market execution.
  • Experience underwriting warehouse lines, MSR facilities, or other structured lending products.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, credit risk assessment, and loan performance analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing commercial financial statements and assessing counterparty creditworthiness.
  • Familiarity with regulatory capital treatment and risk-based pricing frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use strong reasoning skills to develop mutually acceptable solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a hands-on approach to work

Pay Range Details
$130,865.00 - $208,076.00 Annually
The actual compensation offered will depend on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This range represents the reasonable minimum and maximum salary the company expects to pay for this position.
