Real Estate Valuation and Advisory Services (REVS)Openings in Chicago and New York City

Financial Analysts within the Corporate Valuation Advisory Services business are fully integrated members of engagement teams.

·    Work with a highly talented and dedicated staff of professionals who will give you broad exposure to many different issues and concerns affecting businesses today.

·    A unique opportunity to work on a variety of projects that provide exposure to various financial advisory challenges, including the valuation of complex businesses, securities and intangible assets.

·    Help analyze financial markets data, financial statements, industry conditions and developments, various investment attributes of publicly traded, privately held securities and intangible assets.

·    Opportunity to help develop complex financial models and to interact with clients on engagements, as well as participate in the firm’s marketing efforts.

Job Description 

Conducting market and financial research regarding real estate supply, demand, pricing and investment parameters; including in-market interviews, data gathering and confirmation of comparable transactions as well as utilizing data subscription sources

·    Acquiring knowledge of the use and capabilities of subscription data sources, e.g., CoStar, SNL, CBRE-EA, and mining data from the sources efficiently

·    Collecting, manipulating and analyzing property, market and financial data, including:

·    analyzing historic property operating statements

·    abstracting and analyzing leases

·   preparing complex cash flow models using Excel and/or ARGUS software, including analyzing available data to estimate revenues, costs and rates of return

·    estimating property and portfolio values

·      Ensuring that all work product is accurate and complete

·      Preparation of reports and presentations to team and clients, including graphic and written sections

 

Qualifications

May have some of the following:

·    Approximately one to two years of real estate industry experience demonstrating solid real estate analytical capabilities

·   Bachelor’s degree in real estate or business administration or other related academic major with essential classes in finance, accounting and economics

·   Possession of, or progress toward, real estate industry certifications and licenses, e.g., MAI, CCIM, certified general real estate appraiser, broker, CPA, a plus

·    Willing to travel

 

Skills:

·    Thorough competence in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint

·    Excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills

·    Demonstrated real estate analytical skills, including ability to identify and analyze comparable property sales and leases

·   Knowledge of commercial property lease terms including expense treatments and adjustments to yield comparable rent amounts

·    Knowledge of real estate valuation techniques

·    Strong business writing and presentation skills

·    Strong technical modeling skills with Excel and ARGUS software and ability to model property performance and waterfalls from property financial statements, debt instruments, ownership documents, budget and leases combined with market data

·    Strong work ethic and attention to detail
