Position Summary
Transform lives by supporting Adult Education and learning resources provided in the Academic Learning Center. In collaboration with the staff in the Academic Learning Center, provide essential resources to students, faculty, and community members.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide Academic Learning Center support to include: using specialized software to maintain the integrity of ABE client reporting and attendance; ordering and maintaining supplies; creating and updating student records in PeopleSoft; updating and maintaining grant data; maintaining student records and files; creating extended education courses in PeopleSoft; creating and disbursing client forms, enrollment forms, and new student folders; investigating and correcting data based on error reports; assisting in mail processing; submitting media service requests; assisting with opening and closing procedures; assisting with work study employees; submitting facilities requests; troubleshooting office equipment; and collaborating with Academic Learning Center staff to ensure students, faculty, and community members receive the necessary services and resources.
Provide student support services to include: assisting with intake and orientation of new Academic Learning Center students; assessing and connecting students with appropriate resources; instructing and assisting with computer/network log in; providing Academic Learning Center equipment and software instruction and assistance; providing instruction on MyCampus, MyMSTC, and Blackboard functions; providing Academic Learning Center tours and orientations; providing assistance in utilizing online catalog and databases; providing first level troubleshooting with technology and software; and proctoring tests upon request.
Provide library services support to include charging/discharging materials; creating and updating patron accounts; creating identification cards; assisting with interlibrary and intralibrary requests; processing orders; maintaining records and files; processing, preparing, and maintaining collections; coordinating library managed equipment; managing student fines, fees, and academic holds due to past due library accounts; and using specialized software to maintain the integrity of library databases.
Handle sensitive information in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
Collaborate with the APEX team to provide on-going faculty and community support related to new and existing educational technology applications and the College’s learning management system.
Greet and provide customer service to students, employees, and the public; respond to a variety of in-person or phone inquiries pertaining to Academic Learning Center services; and make appropriate referrals as needed. Communicate and enforce Academic Learning Center policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree in related field required. Equivalent combination of education and Mid-State experience will be considered in lieu of associate degree.
Minimum of one year of prior office experience in a setting which utilized current office technology required.
Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office applications, and PeopleSoft applications, or the ability to learn and use PeopleSoft. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Accessand Outlook.
Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
