What You’ll Do
As an Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EIC) Engineer, you will provide engineered electrical and control system designs of chemical manufacturing facilities throughout Dyno Nobel Americas. You will be responsible for providing technical solutions for equipment, processes and instrumentation for new and existing operations. Other duties include:
- Design and provide equipment specifications for control systems, electrical equipment, and instrumentation
- Produce key engineering deliverables including electrical schematics, control panel design, controls system design, Integration, testing requirements, and commissioning plans
- Code and document control systems (PLC/DCS)
- Work with engineering resources to coordinate the provision of engineering solutions, designs and improvements for Dyno Nobel Americas operations
- Contribute to the development of the Electrical and Controls Engineering team
- Work with Business Units and Stakeholders to develop project scopes, design requirements and business cases
- Provide engineering support for Dyno Nobel Americas operations for compliance with applicable regulatory and Dyno Nobel engineering standards for equipment, process and plant design
- Participate in major engineering projects, including but not limited to emulsion plant design/construction, site upgrades, and major site modifications throughout the business. Safely coordinate EIC design and drawing package for execution, while remaining on schedule and on budget.
- Develop or delegate key engineering deliverables such as: electrical construction drawings, and control wiring schematics.
- Design and code PLC based control systems
- Oversee electrical and controls engineering deliverables on projects to ensure technical quality and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with the engineering teams, project stakeholders, and customers
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering OR Demonstrated equivalent experience
- 8+ relevant industry experience as controls engineer (mineral processing/mining, industrial chemical manufacturing plants, oil & gas, etc.)
- Proven track record in detailed process design, drafting specifications, equipment and component selection, and system installation.
- Experience reading and working from P&ID’s
- Experience with Design and coding of DCS, PLC and HMI
- Hands-on experience relating to plant construction, equipment installation, commissioning and process troubleshooting. Operational experience would be an asset.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time during project construction, with regular travel anticipated 25% of the time. Capable of international travel.
