Position Summary
Mid-State Technical College is establishing a pool of qualified, part-time instructional aide candidates to transform lives by assisting instructors in various courses in Public Safety.  Public Safety includes Corrections, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Protection/Service.  The part-time instructional aide pool is used to select part-time instructional aides that most closely meet the needs for particular courses and assignments.

Part-time instructional aides are hired on a per course basis. The total hours for a part-time instructional aide can range from approximately 3 hours per week to no more than 17.5 hours per week. Location may vary among the Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Marshfield, and Adams campuses. Work hours may vary from a traditional daytime schedule and can include both day and evening classes. Courses may be taught in both a classroom setting and/or a general lab setting.

Duties & Responsibilities
Instructional aides do not have to meet the same technical or academic skills as a lead instructor, but is required to have some knowledge of skills that are assessed at the stations.

Instructional aides are responsible for supporting the application and assessment of skills taught in the course. 

Instructional aides will serve as role players in assessment of student learning in practical situations. Role players will perform a specific role designed to elicit specific responses from students. 

Instructional aides will be provided descriptions of the assessment and detailed script of the tasks to be performed. Scripts must be followed precisely and consistently.

Instructional aides may be requested to role play in scenarios involving physical disputes. Appropriate protective equipment is provided.    

Establish and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including co-workers and employers.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
2 years (4,000 hours) of verified work experience in the occupation or completion of Basic Training Academy.

Must be able to demonstrate good organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is dependent upon experience and qualifications.

There are no benefits associated with this position.
