Financial Restructuring

Houlihan Lokey has the largest, most experienced worldwide financial restructuring practice of any investment banking firm, with approximately 160 professionals in offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia. In 2016, we worked on over 150 restructuring-related transactions on behalf of companies, their creditors and shareholders, and other constituents. Over the past decade, Houlihan Lokey has advised on over 1,000 restructuring transactions, with aggregate debt claims in excess of $1.5 trillion.

Responsibilities

Throughout the year, Houlihan Lokey offers 3-4 month internship opportunities at their Frankfurt office. The internship is an excellent opportunity to work alongside restructuring bankers in a stimulating environment on various restructuring assignments for clients in various industries. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job training. Throughout your internship, you will get similar levels of exposure as a first-year analyst, working on transactions that provide exposure to various financial advisory and investment banking products and industries, including creditor- and debtor-side restructurings and distressed mergers & acquisitions. Furthermore you will gain experience in financial modelling, valuation analyses, and work as part of a project team.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • You will either be an under graduate, in you final year of study, or a graduate student
  • You will have a strong academic track record and must be studying for / or achieved a degree in accounting, economics and or finance
  • You will have an understanding of valuation theory, methodologies and applications
  • Strong quantitative, financial and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in native German and fluent English (additional language skills are also advantageous).
  • You will have a demonstrated interest in Financial Restructuring
  • Previous internship experience within investment banking and / or related fields
  • International experience is also desirable, but not essential
  • You must be motivated and have the ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a rapidly changing, demanding, but ultimately rewarding environment
