POSITION: Faculty and Chair, DBA Program, College of Business (FT)
Effective immediately: Full-time Faculty and Chair, DBA Program – College of Business - Wilmington University.
Requirements:
A doctoral degree in a closely related field to the program from an accredited institution is required. If the doctoral degree is in a field not directly related to the program, a master’s degree in a relevant field is also required. Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the areas of academics, curriculum development, and program management. Additionally, candidates should possess substantial professional experience in the program’s field of study, including roles in industry, government, or consulting. Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies applicable to business studies, with hands-on experience using data analysis tools such as SPSS, MaxQDA, and similar software. Proven ability to apply these skills in academic research, dissertation supervision, and program development. Experience supervising doctoral dissertations or serving on dissertation committees is highly desirable. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and have the ability to work independently, but also as a team member. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Candidate must have a working knowledge of SharePoint, SmartCatalog, Website, Social Media, LMS/Canvas – Basic/HOT/Cyber, Synchronous online teaching tools (i.e. Zoom, TEAMS), student data systems/platforms such as Recruit CRM, Advise CRM, Perceptive Content/Banner, Document Management. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is required. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Effectively manage the overall operations and curriculum of the assigned academic program(s) ensuring that the programs comply with any internal requirements such as program review and outcomes assessment as well as external requirements for approval and accreditation.
• Provide forward-thinking, optimistic, and creative leadership for assigned program(s) and certificates ensuring the relevancy of the curriculum remains current and Innovative.
• Work closely with the academic advisors and/or registrar’s office concerning students’ progress.
• Effectively mediate student grade appeals and academic grievances.
• Create, support, and expand individual and community partnerships in support of the College of Business and its goals.
• Meet with the program(s) advisory committee(s) as directed by the Dean and/or Academic Director.
• Collaborate with University departments to promote the visibility and growth of College programs, facilitating relationships with stakeholders and affiliate organizations of interest.
• Oversee and supervise administrative personnel and faculty associated with the DBA program, ensuring efficient program operations and academic excellence.
• Recruit, hire, and schedule appropriate faculty for teaching assignments in conjunction with the course schedule.
• Ensure that all members of the Program(s) faculty are academically prepared and are experienced in the areas of instruction.
• Mentor new faculty and ensure support of the University's mission, the College of Business philosophy, priorities, and procedures.
• Participate in the annual review process for adjunct and full-time faculty within the program(s), following established procedures.
• Oversee the syllabi and course template content for each course in the respective program(s).
• Ensure compliance with Wilmington University’s Teaching Expectations.
• Teach courses in the classroom and online as per faculty contract.
• Promote the professional development of the faculty assigned to the academic program(s), including regular review and communication of student feedback to faculty via the student course feedback process.
• Participate in monthly Chairs Roundtable meetings offered by the Center for Teaching Excellence.
• Demonstrate high levels of competence in oral and written communications with all stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, administration, and the community).
• Participate in and attend College of Business and University functions (e.g., faculty meetings, Faculty Senate, commencement).
• Comply with the Wilmington University Faculty Handbook.
• Support the Wilmington University Institutional Priorities.
• Oversee student recruitment and admissions processes, ensuring the selection of highly qualified candidates.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for DBA students, providing academic advising and career guidance.
• Organize program orientations, portfolio projects, doctoral residencies, dissertation defenses, and other student-centered events.
• Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean and/or Director.
Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday – Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Evening hours as needed for course load. Occasional weekends as needed for special events. The candidate must be flexible to meet the needs of the College and/or University. Required to attend all Graduation ceremonies, Sigma Beta Delta Honors Society events, Doctoral recognition events, College meetings, Faculty Senate meetings and sub-committee meetings, and Professional Development Day events. Must be flexible to meet the needs of the College and/or the University.
