POSITION: Assistant Coach – Men’s Soccer (PT)

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required. The ideal candidate will possess a specialty in hurdles. They will have excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated, capable of making independent decisions, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Creativity and innovation are also valued. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications, is required. A solid understanding of competition and safety regulations is necessary. The candidate must consistently represent the University in a professional manner and demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all situations. Must demonstrate respect for others in the workplace and a commitment to creating a supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):   

  •  Teach the sport of track & field at the NCAA Division II varsity level.
  • Coach, mentor and instruct student-athletes in a positive manner on a day-to-day basis at practice and in competition.

     

  • Support and at times design annual training progressions for assigned running events.
  • Assist the head coach with other training groups as needed, including the jumps, throws, or sprint groups.
  • Appropriately document and keep records for each practice session.
  • Properly document and submit weekly CARA logs.
  • Serve as liaison to academic associates, trainers, and strength & conditioning staff.
  • Help current student athletes maintain eligibility by coordinating and collecting progress reports, monitoring attendance at study tables and directing athletes to available academic resources. This will require regular follow-up with student athletes to assist and ensure they complete these tasks.
  • Complete and submit a monthly contact log to the head coach with all PSA contacts and documenting all recruiting activities.
  • Attend departmental staff/compliance meetings.
  • Any representation of the program through public appearances, speaking engagements and community service projects must be approved first by the head coach and the athletic department.
  • Be knowledgeable of and work within Wilmington University and NCAA Division II missions.
  • Assist head coach in supervision of team travel.
  • Must take and pass the NCAA Recruiting Exam annually and be knowledgeable of NCAA Compliance Rules.
  • Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics.

Hours of Employment: Primarily evening hours; however, the incumbent must be flexible enough with their hours to meet the needs of the team, department, and the University. Some weekends and travel will be required.
