The Opportunity
The Senior Associate, Marketing Operations is an exciting and impactful opportunity to join the growing team at Skills. The Senior Associate, Marketing Operations is a marketing generalist role responsible for guiding projects across varied channels in support of internal departments and new sites within the Skills network; working within the marketing department to drive engagement, grow the brand locally and nationally, and tell the impactful story of Skills’ work. This role will focus primarily on email and content marketing, digital and social media, and collateral design.

In this role, a passion for our mission and our growth plan is essential as we grow our team and scale our impact. The ideal candidate will be able to “do” and “learn” in this position, and will possess the drive to develop new skills to help propel the organization and themselves forward. Skills is looking for people who are data-driven, research-focused, growth-minded, organized, and detail-oriented. The Senior Associate, Marketing Operations will be based in Chicago with a flexible/hybrid schedule of remote and in-office work.



  • Create new and update existing assets across print and digital channels, including email marketing, social media and content marketing, recruitment marketing, web and landing pages, event supplies, and print and digital collateral.
  • Design visual presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Design promotional and informational collateral for any/all stakeholders across internal teams, job seekers, employer partners, community partners, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on the management of a communications calendar and source materials for internal and external messaging.
  • Curate thought leadership for social media, blog posts, email newsletters, and other channels as needed
  • Track and report on outreach and engagement strategies
  • Craft stories of success and work to demonstrate the impact of the Skills model



  • BA/BS in Business, Communications, English, Journalism, Graphic Design, Marketing or Public Relations or related discipline preferred
  • 2-3 years previous marketing/communications experience required
  • Previous CMS/ESP experience required; HubSpot experience preferred
  • Experience engaging audiences and accomplishing communication goals 
  • Graphic design experience: print, video, social, digital – Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Strong project management skills with experience developing and executing tactical plans successfully while collaborating cross-functionally 
  • Ability to balance long-term needs and immediate priorities 
  • Writing and proofreading skills; strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to synthesize data to tell stories through narrative and visuals
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial setting is desired; experience in a mission-driven organization a plus
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
