Controlled Substances Pharmacy Technician - Full-Time

As a full-time, nonexempt, CPS® Controlled Substances Pharmacy Technician, you will primarily be responsible for oversight of storage, inventory, preparing for delivery of, and monitoring of all controlled drugs under the supervision and direction of a licensed pharmacist. They also participate in the training of other staff in the controlled drug processes. This technician also assists in the various activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. Such duties include, but need not be limited to: maintaining patient records; setting up, packaging, and labeling medication doses; filling and dispensing routine orders for stock supplies of patient-care areas; refilling and inventorying automated dispensing machines, maintaining inventories of medication supplies; and mixing medic ations with parenteral fluids. Technicians must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist

Schedule: This position will work 40 hours per week, on a varying day/evening/weekend schedule. 

About the Facility:  Methodist is a not-for-profit, community-based healthcare system.  Methodist has two full-service campuses just 14 miles apart.  Northlake is the urban campus in Gary while Southlake Campus in Merrillville is located near one of the Midwest’s busiest retail areas.  Combined campus bed capacity is 625 plus nurseries.  Midlake Campus is the outpatient facility in Gary, conveniently located between the Northlake and Southlake campuses.  With the latest in technology and outstanding services, this hospital system is the leading healthcare provider in the region. CPS® has partnered with the hospital to manage the day to day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS®.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy
  • IN Licensure/Registration/Certification requirements
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Effective communications skills; verbal and written
