Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - Per Diem
West Branch Ambulatory Care Center

As a per diem, nonexempt CPS® Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at West Branch Ambulatory Care Center, you will be responsible for administering occupational therapy (OT) modalities of treatment as directed by the Occupational Therapist. You will assist with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury or disease; participate in operational aspects of the department; and maintain department performance improvement activities.  

Schedule:  This per diem, nonexempt position will work a minimum of 4 hours/month up to 19 hours/week during the hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

About the Facility:  West Branch Ambulatory Care Center focuses on orthopedics, neurosurgery, and medical specialty services for adult and pediatric patients. Patients who are either acute or outpatient are helped to heal and improve their quality of life through a treatment plan of physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or speech and language pathology.  The Care Center serves those in the counties of Ogemaw, Oscoda, Roscommon, Arenac and Iosco. This brand new, state of the art clinic is conveniently located at the intersection of M-76 and Airport Road just outside of West Branch.   CPS® has partnered with the clinic through our division, CPS® Rehabilitation Services, to manage day-to-day operations. This position is an employee of CPS®.  

About the Ambulatory Center:  The  Center's operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm and/or earlier or later appointments as patients may need.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree (AS) in Occupational Therapy Assisting
  • Current Michigan OTA license in good standing
  • Required: 1 year of inpatient acute and outpatient treatment experience; 2-5 years of experience preferred  
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy an d physiology to provide patient exercise, massage, estim, paraffin baths, hot and cold packs, traction, ultrasound, and ADL retraining
  • Administers treatments and occupational agents as directed by the Staff OT after patient evaluation, observes and evaluates treatment effects and reviews observations with Staff OT.
  • Provides treatment and rehab services to patients who have experienced injury or disabling disease. 
  • Assists patients in reaching maximum performance and level of function while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
  • Monitors and documents patient treatment and response according to current standards and policies.
  • Assess patient progress with treatment and requests re-assessment from Staff OT as per policy. This includes treatment in all patient populations.
  • Engages patient and family members in the educational process of designed home exercise programs for therapy that identifies and takes into consideration psychosocial, cultural, and ethical/religious special needs for patient and family members.    

Hospital Requirements: 

  • (PPD) TB Skin Test - Proof of negative TB skin test within the last 12 months - must be the 2-step process 
  • (MMR) Measles, Mumps and Rubella or A Blood Titer proving immunity
  • List of immunizations provided to the hospital/facility.
  • (Flu) Influenza-required for hire between Oct 1st-April 30th, or completed declination form.
  • Current CPR Certification
