Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Central Florida Hillel (CFH) as the Assistant Director of Engagement and Student Life. You will drive CFH forward by thinking big and implementing with excellence on a day-to-day basis. As you lead people and programs, you’ll help every student on campus connect to Jewish life, learning and Israel. You will have the opportunity to engage one of the nation’s largest Jewish Student populations on a college campus. With over 6,000 Jewish students attending UCF, the opportunities are limitless.

You will have the opportunity to build off our new vision of Engagement and Programming. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial energy, superb organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to Jewish life. You will be expected to build one-on-one relationships with students, put on memorable events, supervise a team of engagement professionals and interns, and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to map out the UCF campus and engage students at all levels, from incoming freshman through graduate students.
  • Identify the needs of unaffiliated, uninvolved, and under-involved Jewish students and develop strategies for meeting their needs
  • Work with students and staff to oversee and implement a wide range of programs, including Shabbat and holiday celebrations, social opportunities, social justice projects, Jewish learning opportunities, career readiness programming, community service and meaningful Jewish experiences.
  • Serve as a Jewish resource to students and groups on campus
  • Supervise, mentor, engage, and support the growth of 4 professionals, several student interns, and a student Board of Directors. 
  • Integral member of the Senior Management team along with the ED, AD of Operations and Director of Development.

On a day to day basis you will

  • Recruit, supervise and lead the student internship team and student board.
  • Oversee the program budget, and account for costs.
  • Staff Shabbat and holiday programming, assisting with discussions, rituals, and celebrations.
  • Be a thought partner with Executive Director and campus partners. Build meaningful relationships with key university staff and faculty that yield productive partnerships.
  • Staff and support alternative breaks and Taglit-Birthright Israel, including pre- and post-trip programs.
  • Oversee the collection of our engagement data in partnership with Hillel International.

What You’ve Accomplished

  • 5-7 years in Jewish, experiential, or higher education
  • Experience as a professional in a Jewish nonprofit organization is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Proven success managing a team.
  • Excellent supervision skills and ability to coach others to achieve outcomes 
  • Proven success in managing multiple projects
  • Creating structures and opportunities that assist and empower students to take initiative and ownership for their communities. 
  • Strong Leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent supervisory skills and ability to coach others to achieve outcomes

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000
