Job Summary

This position is responsible for EMC pre-compliance and compliance testing.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Creation of test reports, procedures, plans, and guidelines;
  • Determine the applicable standards to apply for a given unit-under-test;
  • Works directly with 3rd party testing organizations off-site to insure proper conformance to test standard and methods, timely project completion, and resolution of testing issues;
  • Performs and supervises the testing of products and determines compliance to agency standards;
  • Maintain inventory of test samples and manage check-in/check-out procedures to ensure tested product is maintained for future use;
  • Clearly communicate issues to design engineering and management both verbally and written;
  • Perform EMC audits of existing product to ensure continued compliance;
  • Determine proper means of configuring unit-under test to satisfy test modes;

 

Requirements

 

  • 2+ yrs. experience with EMI / EMC pre-compliance and/or compliance testing
  • Preferred to have experience testing with devices with wireless capabilities (i.e. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC)
  • Working knowledge of electronic measurement equipment including: oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, spectrum analyzers, measurement receivers, and network analyzers
  • Preferred to have knowledge in the EMC collateral standard IEC 60601-1-2 and particular standard for IEC 60601-2-49
  • Experience performing CISPR and IEC test methods
  • Preferred to have knowledge in the radio test standards for US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and South Korea
  • Review product test requirements and verify and document that all requirements have been met

Physical requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking.  Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.  May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities.  Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s license is required.
