Position Summary
Mid-State Technical College is establishing a pool of qualified, part-time academic coach candidates. Transform lives through collaboration with General Education faculty, Student Success Specialists, and LiNK staff, augmenting the success of student learning by delivering direct support to learners. Provide math, writing, and reading skill review to students enrolled in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and/or General Education courses to ensure successful course and credential completion. Collect and report client data for grant purposes.
The part-time academic coach pool is used to select part-time academic coaches that most closely meet the needs for particular assignments.
Part-time academic coaches are hired on an as needed basis. Location may vary among the Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Marshfield, and Adams campuses. Work hours may vary from a traditional daytime schedule and can include both day and evening hours.

Duties & Responsibilities
Create a welcoming, comfortable learning environment for students who require additional academic assistance to successfully complete ABE and college coursework and meeting course pre-requisites.
Coordinate and schedule structured learning activities for students across the college.
Consult with ABE and General Education faculty and attend/observe class meetings in order to prepare structured learning sessions and activities.
Facilitate individual and group learning sessions focused on enhancing student understanding of content in math, writing, and reading courses.
Assist students in development of improved study skills.
Coordinate and administer assessments. Gather, analyze, and interpret attainment of learning outcomes. Share results with students and faculty as appropriate.
Serve as advocate and support transition of pre-college students.
Refer students to all college support at on and off campus events.
Establish and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including co-workers, employers, area high schools, and professional organizations.
Actively participate in program/discipline planning, department planning, in-services, college-wide and other professional development opportunities and regional/state/national meetings and activities.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education or related area.
Minimum of two years of related experience and post-secondary teaching preferred.
Must be able to demonstrate good organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills in educating adult learners.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
There are no benefits associated with this part-time position.
