About the role

At Synacor, we provide a leading full-identity management platform that scales up to support 100+million users. We are proud to be trusted by major content networks, virtual MVPDs, and leading cable providers for their identity management needs. We are looking for a Technical Product Manager who will be responsible for managing our identity management product suite. This role will be key to new product initiatives and customer implementations. The Technical Product Manager will position Synacor’s identity management product line for business growth and will work closely with the development leads, product architects, and customer teams to deliver products and experiences. This role will own the product vision, and translate it into a product roadmap and agile product backlog. The role will represent Synacor and industry technical conferences and help guide implementation of the product inside of strategic customers with the consultant perspective of a solutions architect.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and apply in-depth knowledge of Synacor identity platform, and projects
  • Research and analyze new trends in the identity and access management space, assess how technology trends will impact our product and the product landscape, and present these findings to engineering and product teams
  • Work collaboratively with customer product, IT, and operations groups to design, develop and launch IDM product implementations>>
  • Manage and communicate product development and customer implementation status to stakeholders within the customer and across Synacor>>
  • Generate creative ideas for new products and offerings based on the competitive analysis
  • Create and present product plans, the product line, and manage the product life cycle of a Synacor product and platform
  • Develop key relationships with internal product and readiness teams to understand the challenges with features and critical testing areas
  • Contribute ideas for team-wide process and product improvements
  • Create and maintain program documentation including user personas, user scenarios, and release milestones
  • Conduct technical assessment of Synacor’s product line and competitive platforms and complete win/loss analyses
  • Recommend product line innovations and communicate the path to innovation through user personas and user scenarios
  • Track progress toward delivering innovation by creating and tracking release milestones

 

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3+ years proven experience in product management, exposure to PaaS
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of the product planning and development lifecycle processes leveraging agile development methodologies
  • Proactive customer service skills, responsiveness, and professionalism
  • Proven analytical, tactical, and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellence in a team environment requiring close collaboration and effective communication
  • Expert in influencing and communicating product capabilities to customers, prospects, sales, engineers, and industry analysts
  • Decisive, agile, and iterative; easily able to shift gears between thinking and doing with a proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • The established ethos of “getting things done.” Proactive style with discipline for setting priorities, driving decisions, and getting closure on recommendations and issues

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with authentication standards such as SAML, OAuth, Open-Id Connect is a plus
  • Experience with Identity Access Management(IAM), Automation, or API integration is a plus
  • Exposure to UX design principles and prototyping is a plus
